I wrote and arranged some music on the Elektron Machinedrum for Stir Friday Night's The Rickshaw Joint variety show May 2017 installment. I thought it would be interesting and challenging to play electronic music in a theater/comedy setting, where stage setup is much more minimal vs. a music show (i.e. you have 15 seconds instead of 20 minutes). I ended up leaving the Machinedrum plugged in, turned on, and hooked up inside a briefcase on the floor at the side of the stage, and sat on a chair with it placed it in my lap to play tunes.
These recordings are not from the show proper, as there wasn't time to hook up the recorder. These are rehearsals recorded the night prior, when I was trying to convince myself I had something worth playing out. They're mostly live takes, although I edited out a few huge mistakes (triggering patterns from different tracks, falling way off the beat while drumming) and mastered in Ableton.
Thanks to Jonald at SFN for inviting me to be part of the show and for starting the impromptu dance party :)
